US Wood Pellet Exports Experienced a 21% Decline in September 2023

In September, the United States dispatched 796,988 million metric tons of wood pellets, experiencing a 21% decrease from August and a 1% decline from September 2022.

Wood pellet shipments from the US in September were distributed to various countries, with the UK, Japan, and the Netherlands emerging as the top three importers, acquiring 495,640.0 metric tons, 146,157.3 metric tons, and 47,333.5 metric tons, respectively.

The total export value of US wood pellets for September reached $147.53 million, representing a decrease from August’s $183.07 million but showing an increase compared to September 2022’s $143.2 million.

Throughout the initial 9 months of 2023, the United States exported a cumulative 7.04 million metric tons of wood pellets valued at $1.3 billion. This indicates growth compared to the corresponding period the previous year, which witnessed 6.63 million metric tons valued at $1.15 billion.
