Speaking at the opening of the fair, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tri – Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development – said that in the first 7 months of 2023, due to the increase in geopolitical competition, conflicts, and complicated developments, dragging In the long run, global inflation has increased, leading to a decrease in the main export markets of Vietnam’s forest products.

The selling prices of some key forest products such as wood chips and wood pellets have decreased by 30-35% compared to 2022; export value of wood and forest products dropped sharply, reaching 7.78 billion USD, down 25.5% over the same period last year.

In the context of general market difficulties, trade promotion in general and the wood industry in particular is very important. “Along with Hawa Expo 2023 held in February 2023, BIFA WOOD 2023 will contribute to helping the wood processing industry regain its growth momentum in the last months of 2023 and realize the export target of 20 billion USD of forest products. by 2025 according to the Project on development of a sustainable and effective wood processing industry in the 2021-2030 period approved by the Prime Minister”, emphasized Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tri.

Binh Duong – one of the “capitals” of the wood industry. Mr. Nguyen Van Danh – Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee – shared that in the first 6 months of 2023, Binh Duong’s export turnover was estimated at 2,788.34 million USD, down 5.3% over the same period, accounting for 18 45% of total exports. Although growth has decreased, the wood industry still plays a very important role in the overall development of the local industrial picture.

In 2022, the export of wood and forest products will reach more than 16.5 billion USD, export prospect in 2023, export turnover will reach 17 billion USD, of which, furniture, items such as fiberboard, chipboard, plywood will grow over 5%, wood pallet will grow from 20 – 30%.

To continue to maintain stability, towards the goal of achieving an export turnover of 20 billion USD by 2025, the wood industry is focusing on promoting its image and brand, connecting with partners around the world, and expanding market through fairs and exhibitions.
