FSC Certification Insights: Exploring Current Product Usage and Development Trends Seminar

Scheduled for the afternoon of December 29, 2023, an insightful seminar titled “Exploring FSC Certification: Utilization Patterns of Products and Emerging Development Trends” will unfold at the enchanting Lake Side Hotel, situated at 23 Ngoc Khanh, Giang Vo, Ba Dinh, Hanoi. This engaging event is a collaborative effort between the Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association (VIFOREST), the Vietnamese Wood Magazine, and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Board of Directors. Join us for a deep dive into the dynamic world of FSC certification and the evolving landscape of product usage.

In the current landscape of the global market, an increasing number of buyers are insisting on FSC certification for wood and wood products sourced from Vietnam. Previously, FSC certification for wood and wood products was predominantly sought by customers in the EU and Japan. In Vietnam, many enterprises have successfully met their targets for FSC-certified wood. However, achieving the ambitious goal of having 50% of products on shelves certified by FSC remains a formidable challenge. As the demand for FSC-certified wood grows worldwide, Vietnamese businesses are actively working towards meeting this challenge and ensuring sustainable sourcing practices.

To expand export markets and contribute to a more sustainable future, on December 29, 2023, the Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association (VIFOREST), Vietnamese Wood Magazine, and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) will collaboratively organize a seminar titled “FSC Certification System: Current Usage of Products and Development Trends.” This insightful event is set to take place at Lake Side Hotel, located at 23 Ngoc Khanh, Giang Vo, Ba Dinh, Hanoi. Join us as we explore the dynamics of FSC certification, shedding light on the current utilization of products and emerging development trends in the wood and forest product industry.

The seminar aims to address the following key points:

  • Information Dissemination:

Provide relevant stakeholders with comprehensive information about the FSC certification system, FSC-certified products, potential markets, and various types of FSC certifications.

  • Current Status of FSC Wood Supply Chains in Vietnam:

Deliver a report on the current status of FSC-certified timber chains in Vietnam, outlining both the advantages and challenges posed by the certification for businesses in the country.

  • Proposals for Development and Expansion:

Propose viable solutions to foster the growth and expansion of FSC-certified raw materials and markets. This includes contributing to the sustainable development of the wood industry in the future.

Seminar Participants:

Representatives from various units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (departments, bureaus, institutes, etc.); the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Wood Associations, Wood Chapters; Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) representatives; Wood industry enterprises; and media agencies. The seminar organizing committee cordially invites delegates to attend this event.
