In the first month of the year, exporting turnover for most categories of living room furniture has increased across major markets.
According to customs statistics, the estimated exporting turnover of living room and dining room furniture in February 2024 reached $210 million, marking a 61.5% increase compared to February 2023. Cumulatively, for the first two months of 2024, exports of living room and dining room furniture are estimated to have reached $474 million, reflecting a 90.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
In 2024, global trade prospects are forecast to remain subdued, continuing to adversely affect the exporting activities of many industries, including the segment of living room and dining room furniture.
However, positive signs of recovery in some key markets, such as the US, EU, etc., have become evident, with consumer confidence rebounding, bringing optimistic signals for Vietnam’s exports of this sector in the first two months of 2024.
Of particular note, the exporting turnover of most categories of living room furniture saw an increase in January 2024. Leading the exporting turnover was the category of cabinets, reaching $102.3 million, a 134.6% increase compared to January 2023; followed by tables, reaching $87.3 million, a 70.5% increase. These are the two main export items in the structure of living room and dining room furniture, accounting for 71.8% of the total export turnover.
Additionally, there were several other items within the structure of living room and dining room furniture exported in January 2024, but their turnover accounted for a smaller proportion, such as chairs, dining tables, shelves, TV cabinets, coffee tables, bookshelves, and bookcases.
The export turnover of living room and dining room furniture to major markets in January 2024 showed promising growth.
